Introduction- Amitabh Bachchan- the name needs no introduction. Legendary Actor is son of great Hindi Poet Late Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Born in 1942 in Allahabad, he studied in Sherwood Nainital and after completing his graduation in Science, took up a job in Bird & Co. Calcutta but that did not hold him long and he came to Bombay to try his luck as an actor in Late 60’s. Rest is history. He went on to gain a very tall stature in vast arena of Hindi films. In his long and illustrious career he has acted in more than 200 films and his acting has been excellent in every one of them. He lives the character to its depth.

Amitabh Bachchan : 2011- On 11th October this year he will turn 69 but seeing his action packed performance and active lifestyle it is very difficult to believe. In today’s date he is acting in 12 films which are in various stages of completion. Details are as follows:-

1. Bbuddah…Hoga Terra Baap - Released on 13th June 2011 this latest film of Amitabh has been directed by Puri Jagannath. The cast also includes Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon and Charmy Kaur. Amitabh is playing role of an old man who is settled in Paris and comes to India. He gets embroiled in a situation where he tries to save Assistant Commissioner of Police, (Played by Sonu Sood) who in reality is his son, from murderous attacks of a gang of goons. He is successful in his attempt and in the process meets and patches up with his estranged wife (Played by Hema Malini). This wholesome entertainment can claim to be a commercial success, as it has recovered its cost within 2 weeks of its release. Reports from overseas markets are also encouraging.
2. Department - This venture of Ram Gopal Verma is going on the floors and will take some time to finish.
3. Aarakshan - Made by intelligent director Prakash Jha is awaiting release in August 2011 and is one of the most awaited films of the year. With an interesting subject of Reservation in Government jobs, it has stellar cast- Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar, Hema Malini and of course Amitabh Bachchan.
4. Mr. Bhatti on chutti - This film is ready for release and the name suggests comedy as a subject which one of the strongest points of Mr. Bachchan’s acting.
5. Struggler - This film is in the shooting stage and details about this are not revealed at this stage.
6. Power - Coming out from stalwart director RajKumar Santoshi, it is an out and out commercial Action and Crime thriller. The star cast sounds very strong with Mr. Bachchan being accompanied by Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Ameesha Patel and Kangna Ranaut. One can certainly look forward to wholesome entertainment.
7. Budha - This film is in the shooting stage and details about this are also not revealed at this stage.
8. Taalismaan - The name of Vidhu Vinod Chopra conjures up image of gripping film. The factthat it is based on Chandrakanta by Devki Nandan Khatri, makes it even more interesting to look for.
9. Housefull 2 - Sequel to laugh riot Housefull, directed by Sajid Khan it is again in comedy genre and the people who had enjoyed earlier one will definitely watch this one also. It again has strong star cast to provide wholesome entertainment.
10. Aankhen 2 - The movie has just been announced and the name suggests that it is sequel to earlier film Aankhen which was a great success starring Govinda and Chunky Pandey.
11. Shantaram - This film has just been announced and is based on the novel of the same name. More details of the same have not been announced so far.
12. Zamaanat- This is a film started in 1996 and completed in 2006 but could not be released so far. It seems to be having an interesting tale of a lawyer who takes up a difficult case and appears in the court after many years having lost his eye sight also in between.

Amitabh Bachchan does not have any match and is a stalwart in his field. Defying age, he is going very strong. All the Indians wish him a very long and healthy life.
